Adobe Photoshop
The project content that was handed to our group to research and present was the sophisticated piece of digital manipulation software that was Adobe Photoshop. Together, we decided to assign roles that would configure who would research which pieces of information that we had divided into sub categories; what was the software, who used it,history surrounding it and a demonstration of its basic features. That way each member of the team had been given a task and was given a responsibility that would eventually be pieced together for our presentation. Also, we had the intention of meeting during the week to co ordinate our individualprogres and address any complications that could have arisen ie: confusion,or the subject matter not being covered in enough depth.
Admittedly, I had not had any experience with using Adobe Photoshop in the past, so this was a fascinating task for me, I would learn about it and report my findings to the class which aspect I enjoyed and felt I was successful on. I did find however I need to restrict myself with the amount of detail I was to inject into my section of the presentation I had to mindfully pick the core bits of information that I would deliver to the group as to what Adobe Photohop was as there was an abundant store of information that I critically analysed and decided it wouldnt be needed.
A criticism I can forward about the way the group communicated with eachother, was I felt there was an element of passiveness with regards to meeting up and rehearsing during the week; to physically sit down and discuss the progress,I recoognised there was a reluctance or a reason why this couldnt happen ie lectures at the proposed time, therefore I found it a bit frustrating but we came to a compromise to email eachother and send our ideas that way which was successful.
The feedback we received was to ensure we were not looking at our scripts and to be more consistent with making eye contact with the audience.Had we rehearsed our lines more thoroughly this could have been prevented but on my behalf I was consatntly rewording what I was going to say hence I stood with a small script. Also, we were told to not include so many segments of writing on the powerpoint as it is tedious for people to read and listen simultaneously to a presentation, the slides should have been more simplified ie pictures and images to engage the audience without a strain on tehir behalf which, now, on reflection, I can empathise with.
The theory behind the colour of our slides in the powerpoint was to correlate the colour scheme of Photoshop itself in order to visually bond the information to the subject matter, also the sequence of slides would be of a logical and chronological sequence; what, who, a history of how the software has evolved to present day, controversy that surrounds its functions and a couple of examples to illuminate Photoshop. The presentation took 6minutes long and the time limit was 10minutes on top of the quetions and answer after, 10minutes was the alloted time spent on our teams powerpoint and feedback which we were satisfied with.
In conclusion, I feel that the presentation was successful in the way that our group covered the subject matter despite having done little rehearsing. The improvements I have acknowledged and will act upon is to firstly ensure there is minimal scripture on the slides, as some people on the sudience had difficulty reading and listening to our vocal inputs. Secondly, make more eye contact with the audience, to grasp each and everyones attention having ofcourse rehearsed my lines so as to make my communication more natural.
